Chip & PIN
Your Daily Star Prepaid Mastercard® – The Secure Way To PayThe way we pay for things with credit and debit cards has changed. In the UK we are now using Chip & PIN for the vast majority of our transactions. Chip & PIN means your cards are better protected from fraud. PIN not PenThe main difference is that when you go to pay for anything with your Chip & PIN card - in a shop, supermarket, hotel, restaurant or garage - you are asked to enter a four digit number instead of being asked to sign a receipt. This number is a Personal Identification Number, better known as a PIN. It is the same number as the one you use at a cash machine to withdraw money. Sometimes, you'll still have to sign when making an in-store purchase - but this will only happen when the retailer doesn't have their Chip & PIN terminal yet. Don't worry if you don't know or can't remember your PIN - you can easily request it by dialling the PIN information line on 0844 855 2463 |
